Axis security officer of the year award

During our Christmas Luncheon at the Royal Automobile Club on the 3rd December, John Fitzpatrick our Operations Director, had the pleasure of awarding the coveted 'Security Officer of the Year' award.

The Security Officer of the Year award went to Bill Hall from the Refugee Council in Brixton. The Refugee Council Contract started over a year ago and Bill Hall has done a remarkable job in sometimes very challenging circumstances.  The Clients that visit the RCB are very vulnerable and often suffer mental health problems because of the traumas they have endured before coming to the UK seeking asylum. The Clients consist of individuals, whole families and young person’s/children who have been separated from their families.

Bill has a team of four Officers working for him providing Front of House Reception, manning the switchboard, signing Clients and visitors in.  The biggest part of Customer Care on this Site is that the Clients must be dealt with in a sympathetic and caring manner.  Equally the Team needs to be very firm if any situation jeopardises the safety of staff, visitors or other clients.

There are 32,000 visitors to the Refugee Council every yea, which involved 93 incidents, including 4 assaults on the security personnel and 17 incidents of self-harming / overdoses.

Alan Rummary, Head of Business Services, made the following comments on their own internal website:

"You may know that Bill first became associated with the Refugee Council in 2000 when we first introduced security contractors to support operational staff with, at the time, around 500 clients a day. Thankfully things have calmed down since then and a lot in the security industry has changed. Bill has changed with it and has been one of the main drivers why the transition, just 1 year ago, from security and reception as separate functions into a combined front of house service has been such a success. Not only has Bill led and supported the newly formed team he has done so under a new employer and with new colleagues. Not only that but with his employers sponsorship he has also gained the new NVQ level 2 in security practitioner and the NVQ level 3 as an assessor and skills coach along the way. He thoroughly deserves the award and our congratulations go to both him and his team without whose support and contribution we would not have been able to make the change so successful."

Axis Security would like to commend and congratulate Bill Hall for all his hard work over the years and wish him well for 2009.
