Axis Group partners with NHS Forest to create green spaces

Axis Group, one of the UK’s fastest growing security, cleaning and front of house services organisations, has become a corporate partner to the NHS Forest, a project that supports the health and wellbeing of patients, staff and communities by increasing access to green spaces on or near NHS land.

Launched more than 10 years ago, the NHS Forest works in collaboration with healthcare professionals and organisations to inspire NHS workers to use green spaces to improve patients’ lifestyle and aid the recovery process. Since 2009, 190 NHS sites have collectively planted 66,491 trees, locking in carbon and enabling more people to access green spaces while they are in hospital.

As part of the collaboration Axis Group has committed to plant a tree for every new employee it recruits going forward.

The partnership between Axis and NHS Trees is in support and appreciation of the extraordinary work conducted by the NHS staff during such challenging and unprecedented times.

Simon Giles, Axis Cleaning Chief Operating Officer & Axis Group Finance Director, says the desire to support the NHS, people’s health and the environment led to the selection of NHS Forest as its chosen charity: “We want to praise and support our NHS by all means available and our partnership with NHS Forest is a token of our appreciation and gratitude. The dedication and resilience shown by NHS workers during the past difficult year is admirable, and we hope to pay something back by investing in the long-term health and wellbeing of staff and patients.

The NHS is a key customer for Axis,” says Simon, “and our committed teams are working around the clock to provide essential support to NHS facilities around the country. I would like to congratulate our cleaning team at Bromley Healthcare, recently commended with an award for its outstanding assistance as an External Support Team at the healthcare centre. This award is a further example of our dedication and commitment to support the vital work the NHS is carrying during these difficult times.”
