Axis Security sponsored the Pony Club annual race day at Haydock Park on 13th May 2018.
The Pony Club has been around for 85 years this year, and have been the starting point for a large majority of equestrian athletes, medal winners and anyone interested in riding and horse care.
The sun was shining bright when 45 young jockeys aged from 9 to 15 gathered from around the country for the annual Pony Club Area 4 race day at Haydock Park Racecourse. With 7 races on the race card it made for an enjoyable and competitive afternoon’s racing.
Axis Security's Commercial Manager, Melanie Wood’s daughter, Emily, had her first taste of what it would be like to be a professional jockey when she competed in the Novice 148cm race on her pony, Binks. It wasn’t to be a winning day for them but they had a wonderful experience, as too did all the young jockeys and family and friends who got exclusive access to behind the scenes at a Grade 1 race course.
Senior Regional Operations Manager, Gary Watkin and his son, Jack, had a great time presenting the winning riders with their awards and prizes.
Michelle Beard, DC Haydock Park Branch of the Pony Club, commented:
“ Thank you so much for Axis’ kind sponsorship for the Pony Racing Day. The riders loved their sashes, rosettes and prizes purchased with sponsorship money. Without valued sponsorship, opportunities for our young riders to experience racing at a well know race track would be lost.”
