Congratulations to Kerry Prosser, Security Officer, for winning Employee of the Month.
On Thursday 17th October, it was reported a student was having a seizure. The Library Operations Manager called the security staff for their assistance.
Kerry dealt with the incident professionally and provided the Library Operations Manager with regular updates.
During the wait for the ambulance, Kerry stayed with the student and provided lots of reassurance as this was the first seizure the student had experienced. Kerry also made sure the student’s bike was well looked after and arranged to move it to the indoor bike store so that they wouldn’t worry about possible theft if left outside the building overnight.
Students do not normally have access to this area, so Kerry let reception staff know what she had done and how the student could get the bike back once they were feeling better.
Sue Elias, Library Operations Manager, 2 Central Square, commented:
“Kerry showed compassion to the student and concerned classmates and maintained a calm approach which kept everyone around calm too. Although the student had little memory of the actual incident, he appreciated all that Kerry had done for him afterwards.
Kerry’s actions meant that the student was provided with a high level of care which minimised the disruption to his studies and he will be confident that if there is a recurrence then both he and his family know that he is in safe hands."
Well done Kerry!
