‘World’s Largest’ Real Estate Firm Selects Axis Group for London Office

CBRE, the world’s largest full-service commercial real estate organisation, has awarded a joint security and front-of-house contract to sister businesses Axis Security and Acuity for the prestigious 95 Gresham Street building following a competitive tender.

Based in the heart of the City of London’s financial district, 95 Gresham Street was fully refurbished in 2010 and is spread over eight floors. Although it retains a classical façade, the building is a state-of-the-art commercial property that contains over 100,000 sq. ft of retail and office space, and it has a number of high profile corporate institutions amongst its tenants.

In winning the tender, competing against a number of other service operators, Axis Security will provide security officers to deliver round-the-clock manned guarding services. Complementing these officers, Acuity will provide a receptionist to work a 40-hour week from Mondays to Fridays. One of CBRE’s specific requirements was for both the security officers and receptionist to combine in making the visitor experience more akin to entering a hotel rather than an office.

Wade Standen, Senior Facilities Manager at CBRE, says that having a proactive service provider is essential: “Prior to awarding the contract to Axis, we attended sites where it already provided services to ensure that its practices fitted our requirements,” he says. “We found both firms to be pro-active and innovative, always on hand to help visitors that experienced access problems.”

Wade says he was also impressed with how quickly the team was mobilised: “The mobilisation period was very smooth with all employees transferred via the TUPE process, something that was important to us,” Wade continues. “Having a single communication line through to Axis’ senior management also ensures there is consistent and coherent dialogue.”

Jonathan Levine, CEO of Axis Group, says CBRE is another example of Axis’ success in the property management sector: “This initial contract gives us the opportunity to demonstrate our operational capabilities, and further shows how our separate specialists service providers are successfully combining to form a coherent team.”

CBRE Group Inc., an NYSE-listed Fortune 500 company, provides commercial real estate and property investment services, employing over 70,000 and providing services to over 60 countries. In Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), CBRE manages 1.3 billion sq. ft of property and corporate facilities.
